The Tennessee Volunteers have checked in at No. 13 in the first round of the College Football Playoff rankings.
The Volunteers are coming off of a loss at South Carolina, a game they should have won. Now, any wiggle room they may have had is gone, and Tennessee will likely have to win out to make the College Football Playoff. They get a chance to bounce back this weekend, set to host No. 6 Kentucky.
Miami took the top spot in the rankings, followed by Georgia, Utah, Indiana and Alabama. The Crimson Tide landed inside of the top five, despite already having two losses. Tennessee at No. 13, who completely dominated Alabama just a few weeks ago, is certainly a decision from the committee.
Boise State snuck into the rankings at No. 25, easily the leader in the clubhouse to get the group of six bid.
According to Fanduel sportsbook, Tennessee is +5000 to win the national title. Per ESPN’s FPI, Tennessee has a 21 percent chance to make the playoff field. The Volunteers have a 5.5 percent chance to win out.
