Tramell Jones Jr. will start at quarterback for Florida football in its Week 10 game against the Oklahoma Sooners at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, according to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.
The reported decision comes after the Gators changed their quarterback depth chart for the first time this season, designating both Jones Jr. and Aaron Philo as co-first teamers on Monday. Philo had started seven games this fall, while his teammate got the nod ahead of Florida's Week 7 win at Texas.
Head coach Jon Sumrall noted on Monday that the two signal-callers would compete this week for the QB1 designation against Oklahoma on Saturday.
"Yeah, they both practiced today; that's good news," Sumrall said. "There will be one guy that starts and one guy that doesn't out of the two guys you're probably worried about. I'm not gonna make a big quarterback-one announcement. I have a plan that is already kind of in motion and in place. But I don't know that it helps us with me naming a starter today."
Florida is currently expected to make a change at QB and to start sophomore Tramell Jones against Oklahoma on Saturday, sources tell @CBSSports.

The Gators' skipper further expounded on his point.
"We need both of them to be ready to play to go win, you know, and I think probably, while I fully understand that we need to play better quarterback — we do — we can't turn the football over like we have, especially in particular last week's game; it's been the worst one of the year. We have to play better around the quarterback, too."
Jones Jr. has completed 63 of 89 (70.8%) of his passes for 579 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions, as well as one rushing touchdown, over seven appearances — including one start — in 2026. Philo has completed 110 of 156 (70.5%) passing attempts for 1,367 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions, with three rushing touchdowns as well, over his seven appearances — all starts.
Neither Jones nor Philo were listed on Florida's initial SEC availability report ahead of its Week 10 matchup with Oklahoma after both were designated as questionable in last week's Wednesday report. The two passers were upgraded to probable ahead of the Georgia game, with Philo ultimately getting the start before being replaced in the first half of the loss.
