The first edition of the 2026-27 College Football Playoff rankings was released on Nov. 3 and the Georgia Bulldogs earned their No. 5 spot in the rankings.
In Week 9, Georgia defeated Florida 27-8 in a game that they dominated defensively. They picked off three passes from two different quarterbacks. They get a tough task against Ole Miss, who earned the No. 10 ranking.
Week 10 will feature another matchup between two teams in the College Football Playoff: No. 1 Miami vs. No. 11 Notre Dame. Miami could face their first loss of the season, while Notre Dame could face a similar scenario they did last seaosn with a loss to Miami.
There were a few surprises in the rankings. Alabama was ranked No. 5 in the College Football Playoff, but No. 9 in the AP Poll. Texas also rose from No. 10 in the AP Poll to No. 7 in the CFP rankings, while Notre Dame fell from No. 4 in the AP Poll to No. 11 in the CFP rankings.
As it currently stands, Georgia would get a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff. They would face the winner of Ole Miss and Texas, and considering the rivalry they've built with Ole Miss in the past three seasons, next week is going to be an interesting look at a future CFP matchup.
