The Washington Huskies lost their only 2027 quarterback commitment on Wednesday, and the quarterback prospect visiting Saturday has a last name Husky fans have known for more than three decades.

Blake Roskopf, the four-star passer from Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge who had been committed to Jedd Fisch’s program since April, backed off his pledge. Roskopf ranks as the No. 8 quarterback in the Rivals300, and his exit leaves Washington without a quarterback committed in the 2027 class or any class after it. He was the second Arizona commit to leave the class in five days, after four-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson flipped to the Wisconsin Badgers on Halloween.

Rivals national recruiting editor Brandon Huffman reported that Highlands Ranch (Colo.) Valor Christian quarterback Titus Huard, a Rivals100 four-star in the 2028 class, will visit Husky Stadium this weekend.

Titus is the son of Brock Huard, who started at quarterback for Washington from 1996 to 1998 and now works as a college football analyst for FOX. His uncle, Damon Huard, ran the Husky offense from 1993 to 1995 and still works in Washington’s athletic department as an assistant athletic director.

His cousin Sam Huard, Damon’s son, made his first college start for Washington in the 2021 Apple Cup as a true freshman. That makes three family members who have started at quarterback on Montlake.

NEW: Washington just lost their 2027 QB commit. Now a Rivals 100 2028 four-star with deep roots on Montlake is visiting Husky Stadium this Saturday.

Three family members have started at quarterback for the Huskies in their history.

Is Titus Huard’s recruitment as simple as his last name suggests?

The family tree gives Washington a head start with an out-of-state quarterback, and some of the sport’s biggest programs are testing it. Huard, who stands 6-foot-5, already holds offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Oregon Ducks, and Oregon made its move early. The Ducks offered him in January after bringing him to their Junior Day as one of the few 2028 prospects there, and Huard called Oregon one of his top interests at the time.

“They haven’t really talked to me a lot,” Huard told 247Sports’ Jackson Moore of the Huskies in January.

With Roskopf gone, Fisch’s staff has to rebuild its 2027 plan at quarterback through a late flip or the transfer portal, which gives Saturday’s visit more urgency than a typical junior-year trip. A 2028 commitment from Huard would hand the program a long-term answer at the position while that work happens.

Huard will watch Washington (5-3, 2-3 Big Ten) host the Penn State Nittany Lions at 3:30 p.m. ET on FS1. The Huskies have won two straight after a three-game losing streak, beating the Purdue Boilermakers 38-26 and the Nebraska Cornhuskers 17-10 on the road.
