The 2027 NFL Draft class once seemed so promising because it was too big to fail. There weren't just one or two highly-regarded prospects; the group of potential first-round picks was so vast that the class would be strong even if some flopped.

Now, there are two central questions about the 2027 quarterback class: are any of these quarterbacks can't-miss prospects? Will some of the top names in the class return to school?

It will be at least another month before we receive more clarity on who's staying and who's going, but it's clear by this point that the cream of the crop looks much different than it did in September.

Here's an updated stock watch for the top quarterbacks in the 2027 NFL Draft class.

NFL Draft QB rankings 2027

1. Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State

Mestemaker suffered a loss against Iowa State on Saturday, but it was a great example of why quarterback wins aren't an accurate stat: the Cowboys scored 49 points, and Mestemaker led what could've been a game-winning drive before his defense failed in the final seconds. Mestemaker threw for 323 yards and five touchdowns on the road, tossing his seventh interception of the season but otherwise looking poised once again.

There remain legitimate questions about whether Mestemaker will enter the draft in 2027, but he might make it very difficult on himself to return if he continues to play like he has.

2. CJ Carr, Notre Dame

It's tough to fully evaluate Carr with limited tests on Notre Dame's schedule, but he looked strong against Navy after an up-and-down day against BYU. Carr has thrown just one interception in eight starts this season, and he could cement himself as a high first-round prospect if he continues to avoid turnovers as the road gets tougher for the Fighting Irish.

3. Darian Mensah, Miami

Facing Carr this week is Mensah and Miami in a critical clash for both sides. Miami narrowly avoided an upset loss to North Carolina, but it would be hard to call it the quarterback's fault. Mensah threw for 274 yards and three touchdowns on his way to 38 points, and his completion rate remains north of 80 percent with just one interception. Arm strength is the biggest knock on Mensah's NFL outlook, but his ball placement is overshadowing any of those concerns right now.

4. Arch Manning, Texas

Manning put a multi-interception game behind him against Mississippi State, cruising with three touchdowns and just four incompletions. The Texas quarterback is going to need to string together more of those types of performances to prove he's worthy of a top-10 pick, but the conversation once the season ends could quickly shift to whether he goes to the NFL Draft at all.

5. Dante Moore, Oregon

Moore's season is officially over as he recovers from a concussion and Oregon (presumably) eliminated from playoff contention. Soon, Moore will have to decide between using his fifth year of eligibility and jumping to the NFL. The Ducks quarterback's stock isn't what it would've been last year, but the increasing uncertainty surrounding this quarterback class could benefit him.

6. Trinidad Chambliss, Ole Miss

Turnovers have been a problem at times of late for Chambliss, but he looked strong against Auburn on Saturday with 263 yards and three total touchdowns, including an impressive showing with his legs. Size and age will always be concerns that risk keeping Chambliss from the top of the 2027 draft class, but the production is also undeniable.

7. Jayden Maiava, USC

USC got exactly what it needed from Maiava against Ohio State after an ugly showing against Wisconsin. The fourth-year quarterback didn't put up gaudy numbers, but he avoided turnovers against a tough Buckeyes defense and threw for 222 yards on 22 attempts. That kind of night should keep Maiava in the Day 2 conversation.

8. Julian Sayin, Ohio State

Sayin might not return this season, but it's hard to say his stock was hurt by his absence against USC. Freshman QB Luke Fahey struggled to move the ball efficiently, and Jeremiah Smith's production dipped without Sayin under center. If he doesn't return this season, a return to school could be in the cards.

LaNorris Sellers

9. LaNorris Sellers, South Carolina

Sellers undoubtedly continues to do enough to intrigue NFL front offices. The South Carolina quarterback put on the full experience against Oklahoma, tossing two interceptions but racking up five total touchdowns with 301 yards through the air and 96 on the ground. Sellers has looked more like the player many once believed could be a No. 1 pick in recent weeks, but he isn't polished enough for teams to gamble on him too early.

10. Austin Simmons, Missouri

Simmons' numbers against SEC competition don't jump off the page, but the tools that made him a premier prospect out of high school evidently have NFL front offices intrigued. The former Ole Miss quarterback posted his first multi-touchdown game since Oct. 3 against Arkansas on Saturday, though he only threw for 179 yards.
