MADISON – Wisconsin football is coming off a blowout loss to a team that has clearly had the Badgers' number.

Iowa has won five consecutive Heartland Trophy games against the Badgers, and the last three have been by 30-plus-point margins.

One week later, Wisconsin has a prime bounce-back opportunity against a team with a much different history against the Badgers. UW has won all six games in program history against Rutgers, and that includes two wins in the Luke Fickell era.

The Badgers are an 18.5-point favorite. Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m. and Big Ten Network will broadcast the game.

The Journal Sentinel will have live coverage from Camp Randall Stadium as UW seeks its sixth win of the season, which would clinch bowl eligibility. Follow below for all the updates before, during and after the Wisconsin-Rutgers game:

Luke Fickell comments on Wisconsin Badgers' quarterback situation

02:57 PM ET, November 7 2026, John Steppe

Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell commented on the Badgers' quarterback situation in his pregame interview with Mark Tauscher of the Badger Radio Network, confirming that freshman Ryan Hopkins will start against Rutgers:

"I just think we got to get in a rhythm. I think that we got to continue to have balance. We could see both of them. Colton is up and ready to roll, but Ryan's going to get the opportunity to lead the offense. ... This is all about growing and getting better."

Wisconsin vs Rutgers score predictions from Journal Sentinel's Wisconsin Badgers beat writers

01:28 PM ET, November 7 2026, John Steppe

Mark Stewart

Wisconsin comes off a shutout loss to Iowa and faces an opponent that will be without its No. 1 quarterback (Dylan Lonergan) and a top offensive lineman (Kwabena Asamoah) and likely will be without its star receiver, KJ Duff. The best news for UW, however, is a chance to face a defense that is statistically the worst it has seen this season in the Big Ten, whether you count total yards or look at just the run or pass efficiency. Expect the Badgers to take advantage and become bowl eligible. Wisconsin 31, Rutgers 10

John Steppe

Wisconsin was outplayed and outcoached in almost every facet of last week's blowout loss. Fortunately for the Badgers, Rutgers is no Iowa. Rutgers is the one Big Ten team with an even worse completion percentage than Wisconsin. The UW offense also has an enviable opportunity against a Rutgers defense that has allowed 6.62 yards per play. Wisconsin 27, Rutgers 10.
