HOUSTON – The Cincinnati Bearcats are at the scene of their first-ever Big 12 victory. Scott Satterfield's squad defeated the Cougars 24-14 on Nov. 10, 2023.

Little did the Bearcats know they would drop the next 11 November games.

After a 4-0 September and a 1-3 October, UC has a chance to break an unflattering fall skid and become bowl-eligible for the second straight season. It won't be easy as Houston (No. 17) is the third Top 25 team the Bearcats have played. UC upset then-No. 8 Texas Tech and lost to then-No. 6 Utah the last two weekends. Ahead is current No. 7 BYU on Nov. 28.

Also, since they've played, Arizona is now No. 24 in the AP poll.

UC Bearcats punter Max Fletcher recognized

UC punter Max Fletcher has been named to the Ray Guy Award midseason watch list, the Augusta Sports Council announced on Nov. 5. Through nine games this season, the Melbourne, Australia, native has punted 27 times for 1,236 yards and is averaging 45.8 yards per attempt. Fletcher has placed 11 of his 27 punts inside the 20 this year and has seven kicks of at least 50 yards. Fletcher’s career average as a Bearcat is 45.50, which would rank first all-time in school history ahead of UC Athletics Hall of Famer Kevin Huber (45.47).

Cincinnati Bearcats at No. 17 Houston injury updates

Nose tackle Josh Hough was injured in the West Virginia game and has missed the last two games vs No. 8 Texas Tech and No. 6 Utah. The good news is Hough has not appeared on any of this week's injury lists. Unfortunately, the Bearcats are without linebacker Montay Weedon and center Grant Edgington. Edgington had stepped in for starter Taran Tyo vs. Texas Tech. Tyo missed most of the Texas Tech win and all of the Utah game. Pending the official game day update, Tyo is questionable, as is linebacker Simeon Coleman. If Tyo can't go, you could see guard Evan Tengesdahl move to center.

After being limited in practice after their Oct. 24 game at Utah, quarterback Conner Weigman is full-go as is tight end Patrick Overmyer. Linebacker Jaden Yates and defensive tackle De'Marion Thomas are also expected to play.
