The Washington Huskies football team has seen a noticeable uptick in recruiting since the hiring of head coach Jedd Fisch ahead of the 2024 season.
With Fisch's hiring came a renewed emphasis on strengthening its hold on recruiting in the Pacific Northwest. The head coach also brought over his pipelines and connections in the state of Arizona from his time heading the Arizona Wildcats football team.
This has played out well for the program. The Class of 2026, which has already produced several starters for UW, ranked 12th in the country, an all-time program-best. The Class of 2027 also ranked within the top 25 in the country according to several sources entering Saturday.
Unfortunately for Washington, one of its highest-rated recruits from the Class and one of the aforementioned Arizona players will no longer be attending UW.
It was announced in a post from his official "X" account on Saturday that four-star wide receiver Dontay Tyson Jr. had flipped his commitment from the Huskies to the Wisconsin Badgers.
Tyson shared a message to the Washington coaching staff in his post before announcing his flip to Wisconsin:
"First, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the coaching staff and (Washington football) and (UW wide receivers coach Kevin Cummings) for believing in me throughout my recruitment After much prayer and talks with my family, I am officially decommitting from (Washington) and committing (to Wisconsin)."

Tyson marks the second recruit that the Huskies have lost to the Badgers in recent weeks. UW was one of the finalists and was considered the favorite to land five-star Class of 2028 edge rusher Jalanie George, another Arizona-based player. Wisconsin emerged late in George's recruitment and eventually landed him.
Tyson originally announced his commitment to Washington on June 5, but kept his commitment open. He took a visit with the Texas A&M Aggies on June 12, per his player page on 247Sports.
Tyson, who attends Peoria High School in Peoria, Ariz., ranks as the 338th-best player in the country, 48th-best wide receiver and seventh-best player in Arizona in the Class of '27, per the 247Sports composite.
With the 6-foot-1, 190-pound wide receiver's decommitment, UW's recruiting class for '27 currently ranks 23rd in the country, per 247Sports.
Tyson's decommitment leaves the Huskies with three wide receivers currently commitment from the Class of '27: four-star and top-200 player Tre Moore (Pflugerville, Texas); three-star Braylon Pope (Sumner, Wash.) and three-star Zerek Sidney (Goodyear, Ariz.)
