After Week 8, ESPN predicts that the Georgia Bulldogs will make the College Football Playoff. Georgia is coming off a bye week and faces a significant challenge in Week 9 against the Florida Gators.
ESPN's Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach have different forecasts for Georgia in their latest playoff and bowl projections.
Schlabach is slightly more optimistic on Georgia and projects Georgia to earn the No. 3 seed. Schlabach elevated Georgia in his projections. He has the Dawgs playing and beating the No. 11 seed Ole Miss Rebels in the quarterfinals. he likes for Georgia to knock off Ole Miss and advance to the semifinals, where he has Georgia toppling the No. 10 seed Texas Longhorns in the semifinals. He predicts that Georgia will play No. 1 Miami in the national championship game, which will be held in Las Vegas.
Bonagura predicts that Georgia will end up as the No. 5 seed. He has the Bulldogs playing the No. 12 seed Boise State Broncos in the first-round of the playoff. Georgia would host Boise State in Sanford Stadium. Bonagura thinks Georgia will beat Boise State before advancing to play the No. 4 seed Utah Utes in the quarterfinals. He predicts that Georgia's playoff run will end in the quarterfinals for a third straight year with Georgia losing to Utah, who is off to an undefeated start.
Bonagura has No. 1 seed Miami playing No. 2 seed Ohio State in the national championship. Miami is a popular national championship pick at this point in the season, but Ohio State has a lot of questions after starting quarterback Julian Sayin went down with a throwing arm injury and is out for the foreseeable future.
