The Ohio State Buckeyes will come home after their trip out west to a game against the Oregon Ducks in, in my opinion, the best slot of the afternoon. Ohio State and Oregon renew their budding rivalry at 3:30 on the first weekend of November.

These two teams couldn't possibly be on two completely different trajectories.

Ohio State will hopefully be coming into this one continuing their long win streak, but doing it under the watch of their new, young quarterback.

On the other side of the field, the Oregon Ducks will be hoping to put an end to the slide that they are on. They are currently in the midst of a year of hell. For the team that had legitimate and realistic National Championship aspirations, there is no way that they get in after they were beaten by Illinois.

The theme of the year in Eugene is disappointment. At every single turn, the Ducks have made a misstep, have gotten the bad bounce, have made the bad decision, and the result is a team that wanted to hoist the trophy but is now 4-3 in the season.

If there were one thing left to turn the year around and make it a valuable one, it would be what they do in Columbus. That is the one thing they could hang their hat on if they went to Ohio State and took down the Buckeyes.

They will get the opportunity to do it in the CBS main window at 3:30.

One of the cool additions for the Buckeyes is that this game will be their "Scarlet Out." The team is scheduled to wear their scarlet-on-scarlet uniforms, and the crowd is encouraged to wear all scarlet. The last time they did that was the College Football Playoff game against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Ohio State Bye Week: How Are the Buckeyes Going to Approach Life After Julian Sayin

Ohio State Bye Week: How Are the Buckeyes Going to Approach Life After Julian SayinWe are back on the Buckeye Breakdown Podcast on Ohio State's bye week. No action for the Buckeyes on Saturday, but it was the biggest week of their season as...

This will be the third matchup in the last three years between these budding rivals. In the 12-team Playoff era it began with a trip to Eugene from the Buckeyes that they fell to Dillon Gabriel's Ducks 32-31 after Will Howard's late slide.

Then, the Buckeyes got their lick back when the two teams met up in the College Football Playoff in the Rose Bowl, and the Buckeyes whooped them up and down the field.

This upcoming one was set up to be the rubber match, but it will have a different feel to it. The Ducks are down and out, while the Buckeyes are trying to hold it together.

May the best man win.
