Oklahoma State Cowboys star Drew Mestemaker has exceeded expectations as one of the best performing quarterbacks in the country. His efforts have garnered him serious consideration for his potential standing in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Mestemaker is going through the third season of his collegiate career, his first with the Cowboys following two years at North Texas. He has put together incredible performances to lead Oklahoma State to a spot in the AP Top 25 rankings and a case for College Football Playoff contention.

ESPN insider Pete Thamel repolled the 25 scouts who predicted who will be the first quarterback to get a selection in the NFL Draft. In August, Oregon Ducks star Dante Moore led the list. However, things have drastically changed as Mestemaker tops the list in convincing fashion with 17 votes.

“In the three years we’ve done this, guys, that’s the most a single quarterback has received in the poll. Drew Mestemaker’s rise is a Disney movie, guys. He didn’t start for his varsity at quarterback in high school. He walked on to North Texas. He’s really only started at quarterback for one and a half years in his adult life, and right now he is the hands down favorite to be the top quarterback pick in the next NFL draft,” Thamel said on College GameDay.
