Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class is now the primary focus for third-year coach Mike Elko and his staff amid the Aggies' struggles this season, sitting at 4-4 and 1-4 in SEC play, primarily due to starting quarterback Marcel Reed's struggles and the offensive line's slow progression after losing four 2025 starters to the NFL this offseason.

It's hard to know what Texas A&M's coaching staff will look like just days after the Aggies' regular season finale vs. Texas, knowing that rumors of an offensive overhaul could be in the works, including first-year OC Holmon Wiggins on the chopping block, potentially, while OL coach Adam Cushing is still considered one of the top assistants, and should have the O-line in a much better spot this time next year.

In the 2027 cycle, Elko and Cushing have landed commitments from five-star offensive linemen Mark Matthews and Kennedy Brown and four-star tackles Kaden Scott and DeMarrion Johnson, all expected to sign with the Aggies in early December. Texas A&M's 2028 class has just two commitments: five-star QB Donald Tabron and four-star edge rusher Chance Archangel.

Adding three or four 2028 offensive line commits is the goal, but focusing on the 2027 season, Adam Cushing is expected to return, and while the current starting lineup will lose center Mark Nabou and right guard Wilkin Formby, LSU transfer and left tackle Tyree Adams is slated to return, while rising freshman Samuel Rosebourgh and sophomore right tackle Lamont Rogers are in line to take another step in their development.

Other names include Blake Ivy, who started several games at right guard before suffering a season-ending injury, and LSU transfer Coen Echols, who will be the favorite to take over as the Aggies' starting center. Mark Matthews and Kennedy Brown will immediately compete for rotational roles, giving Adam Cushing exceptional depth, but the team may need to land one or two guards from the transfer portal.
