Vitals: The UCF Knights are preparing for Friday's blast-off, celebrating their 10th annual Space Game. UCF pulled off a historic upset against the then-No. 2 BYU Cougars last Saturday, 39-31, for its first win over an AP Top-5 team. Coach Scott Frost and his squad remain even-keeled, putting history behind them and focusing on this week's opponent. Baylor visits Orlando on a two-game losing streak with defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman taking the reins as interim coach. The Bears fired Dave Aranda after losses to the TCU Horned Frogs and Kansas Jayhawks. Friday marks the fourth matchup between the two programs; the recent meeting came in Week 10 last season, and Baylor blew UCF out 30-3.

Frost Riding ‘Hot Hand,’ Defense Missing Key Starters

UCF's coach knighted quarterback Keyone Jenkins as the starter after his tremendous performance in the upset. He threw for a season-high 293 yards and three touchdowns, and rushed for 35 yards and one touchdown.

Jenkins has truly blossomed in his role since Alonza Barnett III sustained a hamstring injury in Week 2. The coaches have adjusted their playbook around his strengths, and he's improved every week.

Almost every time the Knights needed a crucial down or score, Jenkins answered the call. Baylor's pass defense allows 236 yards per game, the seventh most in the Big 12, setting the stage for another potential 200-plus-yard game for the senior.

UCF's defense is missing another key starter heading into Friday's game: safety Demari Henderson. He sustained an injury in the second overtime period last Saturday and was ruled out on Wednesday.

Linebacker Lewis Carter will miss his fifth straight game, but could be on the cusp of returning. Frost said Carter could be a game-time decision next week against Kansas.
