Kirby Smart and Georgia football moved up in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll on Sunday after a 27-8 rout against then No. 20 Florida Saturday in Atlanta.
The Bulldogs rose a spot to No. 2 after their sixth straight win over the Gators and then No. 2 Ohio State's loss to USC.
Georgia (7-1, 5-1 SEC) has its highest spot in the coaches poll since it was No. 2 on Dec. 8, 2024 after beating Texas in the SEC Championship game.
It's behind only No. 1 Miami which remained unbeaten after a 38-35 win against North Carolina.
The rest of the top five after Miami and Georgia are Indiana, Utah and UCLA.
Georgia plays at No. 12 Ole Miss Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. It's a rematch of the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff quarterfinal won by the Rebels 39-34.
The Bulldogs held Florida to 252 yards including 54 rushing yards while intercepting three Florida passes and returning a fumble for a touchdown.
"They played hard on defense, I was really proud of them," Smart said. "They worked really hard. The most proud I was was the red area stop down there. That was huge, because we needed to win in the red area some. We worked really hard on the red area."
