The Georgia Bulldogs are going to Atlanta to take on the Florida Gators in their storied college football rivalry, the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Georgia is entering the game 6-1 off a bye week, while Florida is 5-2 and is coming off a bye week as well, defeating the Texas Longhorns 27-24 on October 17th.
Georgia will have their hands full with Gators running back Jadan Baugh, who's been dominating this season, being third in the country in rushing touchdowns with 13. Baugh has also rushed for 763 yards. One of his better games was against then No. 4-ranked Mississippi on September 26th, rushing for 142 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-28 victory.
Baugh is a dynamic back with speed, power, and elusiveness. The Bulldogs will need to do a good job of containing him to have the best chance at a victory. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart spoke highly of Baugh and emphasized how important tackling is.
"They have got a great run scheme, and they have got a great back to go it with," Smart said. "When you can run the ball and know that your back is going to make people miss in the open field or break tackles by running through them, over them, around them, it certainly gives you the confidence to give him touches. He has been incredible. He is in and out of breaks.
"We have shown our guys clips of him since the start of the year to kind of say, 'Are you practicing to tackle him, or are you practicing to tackle who you're playing against?' We are driving the motivation that every day you're trying to prepare for the best, and he's certainly done that. He's a talented young man."
Georgia's run defense is ranked 16th in rushing yards allowed, with 105 per game. It'll be a battle for their defense for sure, but they have the talent to compete on all three levels.
Georgia allowed Auburn to rush for 192 yards and a touchdown in the Bulldogs' last game, so Georgia will have to play and tackle better than that. Baugh is part of a string of three straight All-SEC running backs that Georgia could face (along with Kewan Lacy of Ole Miss and Ahmad Hardy of Missouri).
