A second recruit who took an official visit for the win over the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday committed to the Texas Longhorns this week, as Prattville (Ala.) linebacker Jason Crenshaw Jr. flipped from the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Thursday.
The 6’2, 222-pounder had been pledged to the Yellow Jackets since June. North Carolina also hosted the Alabama product for an official visit over the summer.
Texas offered the consensus three-star prospect last month after evaluating his senior film and quickly landed an official visit. Crenshaw also held an offer from Kentucky and was receiving interest from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Ohio State.
An edge at Prattville, Crenshaw is well-developed physically, explosive, and plays with violence at the point of attack, attributes that should help him rise in the rankings late in the cycle. Because Crenshaw doesn’t play inside linebacker in high school, there’s some real projection to the position he’ll play in college, but the baseline attributes are there for him to develop into a contributor.

Crenshaw is ranked as the No. 883 player nationally and the No. 71 linebacker in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
Texas now has 23 pledges in the 2027 recruiting class as Crenshaw joins Monday’s pledge, Virginia edge RJ Hudwson, who also projects as an inside linebacker. It’s a big week for recruiting at the position — the Longhorns didn’t hold any commitments from linebackers when it started. The group remains at No. 7 nationally.
